Knitted Art

In the famous Österlen-region just outside of the town of Glemmingebro, east of Ystad, Kerstin Rosengren has a remodeled turn of the Century farm house housing both a studio, gallery and a knitting machine museum.

Kerstin is mostly known as a clothing designer who creates knitted wearable art inspired by traditional southern Swedish textiles. She works with textiles and creates beautiful, wearable art for women. Her garments have transformed into new shapes, and are available in her shop. New this year are designs for men, after years of requests.

Kerstin's knitted designs are heavily influenced by traditional peasant textile art in the form of roosters, the "river horse" and other images often combined with Kerstin's signature "thorns". The colorful triangular thorns have become an integral part of her design; according to Kerstin "little happy messengers".
